INVERTED NIPPLES

Achieve the desired appearance of your nipples
Inverted nipples usually develop during puberty and result from short milk ducts. Inverted Nipples surgery is a surgical procedure that aims to allow the nipple to stick out from the areola. Men and women often feel self-conscious about having inverted nipples, which is why Dr. Sarah and Vanessa Wong offer this corrective procedure at W Plastic Surgery.

Could this procedure be
right for you?

A W Plastic Surgery consultation is the best way to determine if you are a good candidate for Inverted Nipples surgery. Most people have nipples that protrude or stick outward. Good candidates for inverted nipple surgery have nipples that are inverted or lay flat against the body and appear turned in. Patients sometimes seek this surgery if they plan to breastfeed, as the condition can affect your baby’s ability to draw milk from the breasts.

How is this procedure performed?

Before undergoing Inverted Nipples surgery, it is important to understand that there are different grades of inverted nipples. The grade of nipple inversion may influence the surgical technique used by Dr. Sarah and Vanessa Wong.

Sometimes referred to as “shy” nipple, this grade of inversion causes the nipples to look flat or slightly inverted. The nipples, in this case, still have the ability to evert or protrude in response to stimuli such as touch or temperature.

Patients with Moderate inverted nipples see slightly more inversion than in grade 1 or mild cases. The nipples will evert with manipulation but immediately return to an inverted state.

In patients with severely inverted nipples, the nipples will not evert, even with temperature or manual stimulation.

Usually, this procedure is performed with a local anesthetic, meaning patients are awake during the entire process. A small incision is made beneath the nipple to cut tissue and milk ducts that are causing the nipple to invert. The incision leaves only a tiny, well-hidden scar line at the base of the nipple, which becomes undetectable after healing.
