ASIAN-SPECIALIZED BLEPHAROPLASTY

Would you like to beautify your eyes?
A combination of ageing and genetics can cause the skin and muscle around the eyelids to loosen, resulting in hooding, puffiness and bags that may give you a tired appearance. Asian eyelids have particular physical characteristics, especially in the upper eyelids. While some patients wish to address signs of aging, others want to define or create an eyelid crease that aligns with their desired look. Dr. Sarah and Vanessa Wong at W Plastic Surgery understand the unique facial features that define Asian culture and ethnicity and specialize in Asian Blepharoplasty to address your aesthetic concerns.

Could this procedure be
right for you?

A consultation at W Plastic Surgery is the best way to determine if you are a good candidate for Asian Blepharoplasty. Ideally, these patients wish to improve their overall appearance without abandoning their heritage/ancestry. Good candidates have an invisible upper eyelid crease since it is so near to the eyelashes. If you have a single eyelid, low crease, asymmetrical creases, or double creases, you could benefit from Asian blepharoplasty. This procedure may also be used for patients with extra skin and fat above their eyelids.

How is this procedure performed?

During a Blepharoplasty, Dr. Sarah and Vanessa Wong will remove and reposition excess skin and fat surrounding the eyelids. Some Asian patients see no folds above the eye, which gives a remarkably restrained look. The techniques used for this operation aim to recreate the palpebral fold at the level of the upper eyelid. They will vary depending on the excess skin and fatty tissue between the eyelashes and the palpebral fold:

Full incisions

A horizontal incision is made along the eyelids to create a crease. The skin is then detached from the orbicularis muscle. After this, the eyelid is sutured, and the scars will be concealed in the newly created crease.

Mini incisions

This technique consists of making mini-incisions located at the level of the desired palpebral fold. The mini-incisions are then sutured. This technique is best in people who do not have excess skin and whose tissues contain little fat.
